Programmes and cooperation

The Academy of Finland allocates research funding to fields that are considered of key importance in terms of science and society. Particularly our Centres of Excellence and research programmes are designed to raise scientific standards, create new scientific knowledge and know-how and increase international cooperation.

The Academy is engaged in a variety of international activities, covering the Nordic countries, Europe and many other countries relevant to Finnish science.

Research lends support to policy-making concerning marine spatial planning

The multidisciplinary Marisplan project, carried out within the Academy of Finland’s Finnish Research Programme on Climate Change (FICCA), focuses on the effects of climate change on marine ecosystems. The information collected during the project will be used to facilitate, accelerate and rationalise policy-making concerning marine spatial planning.
